A couple things

If you sent me email of any kind please resend . Please I'm swamped and cant find ANYTHING

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

BFP, Kai and Nezua have some amazing stuff up that I'm trying to catch up on

BUt This caught my eye

And by caught I mean made it twitch unbearably

So if you are black,female and queer you can't even defend your self?

I just at this point feel like , if you gone be a victim or a defendant be a defendant.

Because maybe jsut maybe if harassers worry about their lives for bodily harming you .

MAYBE someone will dial up the idea that we should be safe in the streets

RIP Sakia Gunn

I've been following that case since it happened, BA. I'm surprised I didn't have an anger induced stroke when that verdict came back

what utter, utter evil bullshit.

I wonder if that's the same story that someone in the Carnival was clocking a typical NY Post story about, rich with bitter amusement; you know, Killer Lesbians On the Loose! poor innocent man, something. blah.

Every time I read about that I just feel ill.

Self defense, people; it's a VALID defense no matter your gender, romantic orientation, or race.

I got one question---was the homophobic misogynist "victim" ever charged with a crime? The last time I looked, pulling someone's hair and choking her was still illegal.

I feel like - not only the horribleness of these women being punished for trying to defend themselves, but when they get out of jail, how will they not be afraid to defend themselves the next time? Because it's not once in a lifetime bullshit for young black lesbians to get attacked. So now it's "which is worse, what this guy is going to do right now, or going back to jail if I succeed in fighting back?" Is there any chance, also, that this won't make other queer women of color feel scared about exercising self defense?

I do tend to agree that maybe if it happened more often...

well.

You know, you get your dumber MRA types bringing up the John Bobbitt thing, you know, in the middle of discussions of horrific sexual abuses of women;

and it's like, okay, yes absolutely abuse of men happens, by women too, sure;

but, -Lorena Bobbitt?- Let me tell you just how representative that particular scenario is:

I was in Istanbul when that happened. We're walking in the bazaar and one of the vendors, in medias trying to chat us up, goes, "Oh, you're American?" rummages for a newspaper. The headlines are in Turkish but the name remains the same. "Do you KNOW this woman??"

Halfway around the goddam world. Headline news. Tells you something.
