Enough Time Has Passed ( or Covering BAsics Part Two)

This wasn't voting as a new wave of folks understanding and blessing and trying to become better Americans or beginning to see any kind of light.

Understand that as a deep politics and statistics nerd my first instinct is to go to the tape. The Abortion Bans aren't resounding victories but near close calls. Wohooo resounding percentages and lets go to the tape


150,000 believe if you have a bad day or are poor or young or frightened your body needs to try and kill you before you can ask a doctor to perform a procedure their ass should be trained in.

2. That as many as 3 of 4 of their neighbors are so self absorbed that they would vote to make them second class citizens
3. And a young POC who has had none of the privileges before college can expect no chanche of a level playing field in it

South Carolina reelected the man who signed that law by a margin 2 . 5 times the one they said no to the abortion ban. And more peopel would rather smoke weed then let people have control over their bodies.

With the average salary DOWN from the 50's and that's in PURE money WITHOUT inflation. The dollar isn't going nearly as far as it used to and nowhere near as far as it needs to. The real spaces for innovation ( read: making dem dollars) are medicine and technology, matching almost perfectly with the areas American school children blow the most chunks at .

Immigration drives wages down because someone running from abject poverty and or death will take a job if it pays just about anything and greedy bastards will always take that deal, while elite higher education is populated by almost entirely the upper middle class and above or the SUPER achievers spawn of the foreigners,poor,brown, et al. ( GO ME!) , or in some cases the unholy combo of both, and well

Privilege is the ability to be over someone else without an tangible justification. By being over it you don't have to deal with the muck and mire of NOT having it. Privilege is more about NOT having to deal with something than the actually having of more than someone else.

As a private schoool refugee myself , I truly do wish we all had learned in those halls the value perspective. The rich aren't hurting anybody as they get richer so it's not a big deal right ,and they give away stuff to charity.

Except that's predicated on the idea that the rich DON"t hurt anybody by being that much wealthier. The idea that one person being worth billions ( meaning having a greater worth than the GNP of at least three of any of the towns I share a direct DNA link to) and not having hurt ANYONE.

The real issue is that the rich no longer have to see the people they may be shiving, and taht the disparity is so bad that the people they are shiving aren't gonna complain because by being IN the muck and mire have a good idea of how bad it could actually be. So those close enough to get some footing with privilege DEFINITELY won't be complaining .

It doesn't make them bad people . It makes them people who have to survive. It also make sthe well poverty is a bigger problem and the rich give money solution even more of a dodge. Privilege prevents you from having any real contact with the problems that face others , not the ability to solve them .

Privilege isn't being able to help with a problem , it's never having it in the first place, leaving you unable to solve it when you get there, leaving your kids just as ill equipped and wait a minute they don't have the cushion or the calusses to deal.

Stossel's segement on white privilege is the same thing . White privilege exists it prevents housing, treatement and money. All the things that you know make life so his solution... It exists but trot out the prerequisite " made it" black man to let the white folks feel good because there is nothing you can do.

The thing with these pieces and packages is that they do a double service . It makes everyone feel really deep and concerned having looked at it at all and comitts the status quo to an even deeper level. Shits getting worse and there is fuck all you can do! NOSE GRINDSTONE !

Except that's not at all true. IT's not 80/20 , it's not always feast or famine. When the poverty you're talking about is literally back breaking. When a good bet of savings is three months to poverty ( while the average job finding is what six months) it's not JUST an unequal distribution of wealth. and here's where I put on my evil non revolutionary thinkee cap'

Privilege need not budge much if any at all if you simply brought up the low end. Yeah I said it. Want to start really solidifying the concentration of power and money WITHOUT the uproar from the peasants.

Cover the basics. Food,housing, healthcare, and a standard education.

Done , allow people the basics for a humane existance and it becomes harder to rile them up. What is distressig and amusing about this new awareness is that with the culling of the herd in the privileged class and the steep drop. Even these basics aren't covered, so now peopel who for all their lives have had everything are getting the news that a life of work won't cut it.

This " reporting" instead of progressively attacking the problem misses the even basic non social order upsetting solutions. The order is upset and more importantly as history/current events keep showing up much further of a tip and we wil have a much bigger problem of just which neighborhood we can live in if it tips further.

Stossels white privilege piece is worse because that privilege is in MANY cases the only one some folks have left. And rathe rthan adress it they hope to slide your eyes from it except....

So it is with a heavy heart that I write , because I am frightened that because i am not one of your people, you will listen to me with a more willing ear. However if you will , then I will use what little influence I can move upon you . I will beg you because the world is watching. Oaxaca is NOT a problem of rioting and violence. Oaxaca is not a fire that is to be put out. Oaxaca is the voice of your beautiful people screaming to be be heard. And we hear them. We hear them from our computers, our newspapers,our friends, and our families. And regardless of the " official reports" we now have the words of you greatest asset , your people. We are worried for them, we care for them,we love them,but most importantly we are watching , we are listening and we can no longer allow you to believe we are not.
The people must be allowed to determine their own fate. They must be treated with the respect and reverence that benefits such a dynamic people so invested in their countries future. A future that will be come the history that you are remembered for.It is not enough to promise no violence,it is not enough to trust the reports from the police. It is not enough to try. Your people have suceeded in ways that are unimagined by most of the world and you must meet their comittment to democracy with the same comittment towards true representation and peace. Not the peace of muffled voices , but the peace of justice.
The people have spoken , they are fighting , they are screaming , they are truly the best of your country and the world. The should not and will not have to beg for their place in history as a powerful force. But I will beg. I will not beg for them ,but for you.
